Where to start
Agency Governance → GDPR Retention / Deletion Controls
Before you begin
Only an authorised administrator should manage retention policies. Confirm the approved policy and any legal hold before changing data.
Follow these steps
- Review the active policies, due-record summaries and relevant holds.
- Check that the affected records have the expected retention metadata.
- Run the available dry-run process to inspect the proposed effect.
- Resolve unexpected records or missing holds with the responsible owner.
- Proceed only under the approved retention process and review the resulting audit evidence.
Check the result
The dry-run scope should match the authorised policy. Any executed action should have a clear recorded outcome.
If something does not look right
Deletion or anonymisation can remove information needed later. Stop if the policy, hold status or affected population is unclear.
